PW Oral Presentations Requirements!

June 26th, 2008

Dear 2E,

As mentioned, please see the following details – It will tell you what we HOPE to see in your presentations.

Please remember you have 15 min
Aside from CONTENT, we will be grading you on presentation skills. The best groups will be presenting your project to the Lower Secondary Assembly. =)

Basically the presentation must cover the following:

1. All scripts, storyboards, photos etc should be posted with everyone’s comments on how these
answer the project task question you have been assigned (You MAY choose to extract certain quality postings/responses to showcase during your presentation)

2. The actual movie/documentary and photo journal can be displayed.

3. You should also post blog entries discussing the oral presentation and how you would organise it
to make it interesting for the audience. Your oral presentation should address the following
processes:

a) What’s your project question /task and what is your understanding of this question? How have you
managed to answer this project question through the project research and work you have done?

b) What were the roles and responsibilities of each member and what was done to ensure that
everyone contributed? What problems were encountered and how did you solve these as a group?

c) Explain your concept of the documentary and how does this documentary answer the project task
focus or question.  Explain clearly why you have chosen to present the dicumentary in this way ,
explain the ideas behind the way you plan the storyboard, the different scenes and why certain
scenes are chosen and what you intend to show with these ( include details abt camera angles/shot
types, music, narration text, sequence of scenes, focus of video and what is the message you wish to
communicate).  The same questions can be applied for the photo journal

d) Reflection on Learning – must be specific in terms of what skills esp thinking skills, analysis skills,
planning skills, team management skills, visual skills, history skills, language related like writing
skills, presenting information etc

That’s all. All the best!

June 25th, 2008

Dear 2E,

please be aware that i will begin grading this assignment by 30 June.

Leaders please ensure that your group is on the right track.

Rubrics for Assessment will be based on this:

Below Expectations (0-7)

Shows no attempt at understanding task given.

Little or no reference to text when posting or using specific evidence from text to support.

Merely copying or paraphrasing text.

No attempt to discuss issues/ideas encountered when reading text.

No evidence of thinking about certain issues raised in text and seem NOT to have engaged with the text at all.

Limited to surface or literal questions with information lifted from text but rarely question interpretations offered by other members.

ONLY 1-2 members are dominating group, other members do not show understanding of task/role or do not attempt to ask or seek help from others.

Meeting Expectations (8-11)

There is an adequate attempt at demonstrating understanding of task and text.

There is attempt at linking observations/ideas/discussions to text and giving and explaining how specific evidence from text can be used to support discussion.

Some evidence of thinking shown though often do NOT read beyond the surface bt some attempt shown to critically question other’s point of view and interpretations

Understanding shown is usually limited to paraphrasing from text instead of engaging in questioning text or seeing connections or links between different characters/themes/incidents

Some attempt to use creative WEB tools to demonstrate understanding though not always used appropriately and may not succeed in enhancing explanation or understanding

Most members are actively involved in task through asking questions and raising issues for discussion.  But, there is inadequate follow-up on issues/ideas raised.

Above Expectations (12-15)

A good understanding of task and text shown with interesting questions raised and ongoing discussion of certain topics/issues by different members.

There is appropriate use of reference to text as evidence where references are explained linking it themes, character analysis and issues are raised for further discussion

Clear evidence of thinking shown though reading beyond the surface, raising interesting questions and issues for discussion nd critically questioning other’s point of vew and interpretations

Good understanding shown by engaging in active questioning of text or good attempt to see connections or links between different characters/themes/incidents

Good attempt to use creative WEB tools to demonstrate understanding mostly used appropriately and sucesfully in enhancing explanation or understanding

ALL members are participating group, asking questions, explaining to each other, follow up on other members work and working as a group effectively.
